The music ministry of Victorious Life is comprised of trained and untrained musicians and singers who, together, desire to use their musical talents to glorify God in worship. Because of our diverse congregation, the music of our services varies in style ranging from contemporary praise and worship selections, to classic hymns and gospel tunes. Regardless of the musical style, the music ministry of Victorious Life is committed to performing music which faithfully proclaims the gospel of Jesus Christ, is doctrinally sound, and encourages our congregation to worship God with joy and reverence. We understand the unique role of music to inspire the church in its devotion to God and, therefore, seek to incorporate both contemporary and traditional musical expressions to reach people of all ages and walks of life.
Our music ministry teams are currently organized into three worship bands which alternate Sunday services. Each band generally consists of a piano, keyboards, electric and acoustic guitars, electric bass, drums, percussion and several singers. Occasionally, additional instruments are added such as brass, woodwind or stringed instruments. We encourage the entire music ministry as well as the congregation to suggest new music which they feel would suit our congregation. Each worship band practices on their own schedule or prior to Sunday service.
In 2001 Victorious Life produced its first music CD, "New Life in the City - songs of Good News and hope from Victorious Life Christian Church" The CD is a compilation of original songs written and performed by members of the music ministry. Songs from the CD have gotten air play on several local radio stations.
Our second CD, "This Heavenly View" was released in 2012 and is also a compilation of original songs written and performed by members of the music ministry. . Proceeds from the sale of our CDs support Arise and Build Community Ministries, the local missions arm of Victorious Life. To purchase a copy of "This Heavenly View" go to http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/brianbarker or contact the church office.
We are always looking for new musicians and singers to add to the music ministry. As the church grows we hope to add more worship bands to our current rotation. We also encourage children ten years of age and older to participate and learn to develop their musical gifts in the context of worship. We occasionally study a book on the topic of worship or attend worship training conferences to develop as musicians and worshippers. Anyone wishing to participate in the music ministry is welcome to contact Pastor Brian Barker, Scott Alison or Chris Fanning.
